Bill and Patty Auvenshine first opened their school in October of 1997. From the start they have been active in the community, following their belief that a martial arts school has a responsibility to the community it serves.
We are saddened by the passing of Grandmaster Bill Auvenshine in August, 2019 but his legacy continues in his students as they continue to pass down his wisdom and inspiration. Bill was a bit of an oddity in the martial arts. In December of 1995, he had an encounter with an unseen patch of ice and a power line pole that left him paralyzed from the waist down. Even that did not dissuade him from following through with his plans to open a dojang. He instructed at AUVTKD from a wheelchair for 22 years.
The school continues under the helm of Grandmaster Patty Auvenshine. She taught P.E. and Health for 31 years in the South Fork School district. She has been teaching at the dojang for 25 years.
